Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i used to play the viola but i switched to cello!. when i wanted to try to play the viola i felt like i had forgotten the notes and how to hold it!. i used this book called essential elements 2000 for strings to relearn the instrument!. it really helped me but the books are kind of easy!. since you played before, you might want to start with a higher level book!. you can find this book in almost any music store that sells or rents instruments!. if you don't see it ask someone who works there!. good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com It depends on how far back you'd like to go!. You could start with Suzuki and Tune a Day, but if you already play the instrument, you might want to start with the etudes: Wohlfahrt, Kayser, Mazas, etc!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com Personally, I like to put my fingers on the strings, move them up and down the fretboard depending on what note or chord I would like to produce, generally while using a bow to make the strings vibrate!. On occasion, I will also pluck the strings with my fingers for a different effect!. *Sorry, I know im not being helpful!.
