Question: I am going to Blue Lake Fine arts camp on a $375 schoalarship for viola this wednesdayDoes any one have tips!?
I have my best friend coming with me who plays cello and we are both really nervous!. A few specific questions are;

1!. How much of the day is spent practicing!?
2!. How many different orchestras are there!?
3!. Is it better or worse to take a minor!?
4!. Will there be time to do things like write home!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I juts got back from Blue Lake yesterday! It's awesome!! Okay, I went for band instead of orchestra, but here's what I know:
1!. There are 2 rehearsals, an AM rehearsal and a PM rehearsal, each for about an hour and a half!. Then there are daily sectionals and tech classes, about an hour each!.
2!. To my knowledge, there is only one orchestra, but I'm not totally sure on this one :s
3!. It depends what you want; if you like a lot of extra time to talk to people and hang out, then a minor is worse!. But, if you really like your minor category (like I did) then it's better!. Juts make sure you aren't late for your PM rehearsal!
4!. All classes end at 3:40PM, and you have from then until dinner for rec time!. There's also a break time in your schedule for about an hour, and more time if you don't take a minor!.

Another tip; bring your own bottled water!. The water there tastes like sulfur and is really disgusting!. You have to drink a glass of it at all meals, BUT if you bring your own water, they let you drink that too :)

Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. Well wen u first u get like a 45 min break and then like a 1-two hour break in the afternoon and then u can add meals and then night time *each meal is like 45 mins [approx]*
2!.Well i am not sure how much orchestra there r cuz i did band but wen i did band there were 4 bands so prolly around that # 4 orchestra!
3!. It all depends on ur lifestyle *better*::: it is better if u like to be doing something all the time,, u also learn more then wat u would if u just did no minor *worse*::: it is worse 2 take a minor cuz u have alot of less freetime and less time 2 take showers and wat not!.!. You also dont have as much time to hang out with ur friends and stuff like that!.
4!. On my first day of camp last year they made u rite a letter home to ur parents to tell u wat time u were performing and stuff like that!.!.!. U also get like 30-45 min at the end of the day to just relax and chill *time 2 rite*

Hope i could help!! Have fun i go in session 4!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm going at the same session as you! What unit and cabin are you in!?

In regards to you questions, I've read a lot about the camp!. I'm pretty sure there are five hours of classes a day, not including minors!.

I don't think there are different levels of the orchestra, but I'm not positive!. I'm going for choir!.

From what I've gathered, the general consensus was that minors were a waste of time and money that could be spent of more enjoyable things!. Without a minor, you have more time to nap, read, and write home and stuff!.

You can write home during your evening free time!. Or, if you didn't take a minor, you can write then!.

I hope to see you there!Www@QuestionHome@Com
