Hey!.!.!.

Smart thinking!. Put light or extra light gauge on that guitar!. Medium string will definitely pull too much on the neck and even if it was a Gibson, it would still warp and would have to compensate by adjusting the truss rod!.

Light gauge are find and easier on the finger as well!. When you put your eye to the hedstock and look down towards the middle of the neck, their should be a maximum of 1/8" clearance!.
Put 1 finger on the 1st fret and one finger on the 12th fret!. That is a perfect line and the clearance between neck and fingerboard is 1/8"!. If it is more, you have to turn the truss rod clockwise to straighten !. Turn counter-clockwise 1/4 turn if the strings are almost touching the fingerboard at the 5 or 7th fret!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hey, i have a takamine guitar!. i use elixir polyweb MEDIUM gauge!. i've had light before, but i was too afraid i'd break a string!. medium gauge is great for my hard playing!. it doesn't not jack with your neck!. if you're really afraid of that, tune all your strings a half step or a whole step down!.

standard tuning: EADGBE

half step down: D#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#

whole step down: D, G, C, F, A, D

if you do a half step, just put a capo on the first fret!. it's not that hard to do!. how do i know!? cuz that's how my takamine's tuned, half step down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
