Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Peter Vogl has a good series of music books, they are comprehensive!. I'm sure your local music store could get it for you!. There's one for scales, one for chords, one that tells how to read TAB, and others!. It's important to sight read (on a staff) but it's good to know TAB as well!. I hope that eventually you can find a teacher, but if you have questions write me, it might take me a little while but I'll get back to you!. Another great idea is to get instructional videos, your local music store can recommend one, or perhaps the library has them!. If you can't have a formal teacher, maybe you could make friends with some people who are musicians, maybe a band that plays at a coffeehouse and has open mike sessions would be willing to share what they know or let you play with them!? Lots of people assume that because I'm young and female that my guitar playing is limited to a few Jewel songs but if people ask me how I did something, or how I played something, I'm happy to share with them!. Another idea is YouTube, I think that they may even have instructional videos!. Do you speak Spanish!? There is a website that I LOVE called lacuerda!.net!.!.!. it's in Spanish!. If you try your library, you could even try some without having to shell out first!. Or look online, there are lots of do-it-yourself lessons - do a yahoo search for 'free guitar lessons'!. My son got the first basics from his friends, and now he uses guitar tabs online all the time!. So, round up your pals and get them to show you!.
