Question: Has anybody else who started playing Guitar Hero got inspired to play the real thing!?
I started playing guitar hero 5 months ago I didn't master the game but got pretty good to wear I could play most songs on expert

Then a week ago I started playing a real guitar and after a good week of pracitce I can now play the main riff in Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses

Just wondering if that is good progress or is that slowWww@QuestionHome@Com

That's pretty good! I think the makers of Guitar Hero would be glad to know that people played their game and moved on to the real guitar from there, and got good at it!.

I'm pretty much the opposite from you: I play the bass in real life, and I don't seem much good at those guitar games!. Perhaps it's because I use my brain instead of my eyes to play: I like to experiment a lot, and Guitar Hero does not allow for that!.

Still, I wish you lots of luck in your gaming and guitar playing!.

By the way, I love that Pink Floyd album!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm the exact opposite: I played the real thing then thought Guitar Hero sounded interesting!. But I'm nowhere near expert so I'm pretty jealous of you!. :-p

To start off playing a guitar riff, while bypassing all the basics (basic chords and things), that's kinda half and half: it's not bad for a beginner, but it's not also a good thing since you jumped a very big gap!.

But then again, if you're not really serious about learning how to play the real guitar and you were just fooling around, then it's ok!. That's good you can play the riff then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've been inspired by Guitar Hero!.!.!.!. to play a real guitar instead of a plastic controller!

I did okay at it on medium, but it's like!.!.!.!. hey, I can play this song for real, and my mesa boogie sounds waaaay better than this does!.!.!.!.

It's good to learn some cool-sounding riffs like that (after all, I started with riffs from Death) but it's important to learn the basics, too!.!.!.!. chords, scales, music theory, etc!. Without knowing this stuff you won't be able to play very much (can't play "Patience" without chords) and won't understand why you're playing what you're playing in the first place!.

So make sure and practice that stuff too!.

Well, I would need to hear you playing that riff, but if you really can play it without mistakes that it's quite good for a beginner!.

Maybe the time spent with GH gave a bit of dexterity to your fingers!. Otherwise, GH and guitar have nothing in common!.

Carry on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually yes!.
But I got the guitar and never learned how to play it right!.
But im getting around to learning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Heck, yeah! As soon as I got to the end of hard, I was like "I must play for real!" and I'm learning now!Www@QuestionHome@Com
