I've been playing since I was seven (Im fifteen now)!. When I first started I was really determined but when I started high school, i started to practice less because It was hard to stay focused!. But this summer I think my determination has grown to where it used to be!. My progress over the years has been slow, and plenty of time I felt like giving up, but I'm finally able to play peices that I used to dream of playing!. Nothing feels better than playing a peice of music that you once thought was impossibly difficult with ease!. I hope one day to teach my children how to play so they can share in the experience ^!.^Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old and now I am soon to be 23!. I think that learning to play the piano all depends on your concept of the relationship between the keys and the sounds they make!.

Anyone can eventually learn to play by ear!. I was playing the piano before my first lessons picking out "We Three Kings" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb"!. I probably could have continued to improve on my own!. I would not have played "correctly" though!.

In a sense I play better now, but I feel that I have lost my ability at playing by ear by focusing most of my time on playing "correctly" and reading what was on the page!. I'm only now beginning to compose from nothing again!.

I also feel that piano isn't something that you reach a golden point where it is learned!. I'm still learning much about the piano even after taking music classes in college!.

All I can say is: practice, practice, practice!. I know everyone says that, but it's the truth!. You'll hate it before you love it!. Believe me!. I wanted to quit a million times!. Now I sit down for hours and play!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
