Question: First guitar- electric or acoustic!?
I've been playing music for a while now and i've finally decided to pick up the guitar, but i'm not sure if i should start with an electric or an acoustic one!.!.!. I play piano, saxophone, and electric bass, and i'm not really sure which one i would prefer!. I know it depends on my taste, but technically speaking, what are the pros and cons to the two types!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Acoustic- harder to play than the electric, but it's got great sound and some can be plugged into an amplifier or PA!. bends are very hard to pull of with a steel string, at any rate!.

Electric- much easier to play than the acoustic, generally take up less space (I have a small bedroom) and are great for solos and popular music, but thats not saying much because most bands nowadays are playing songs that are pure power chords and therefore playable on the acoustic

I would start out acoustic because if you start off with a Les Paul, yeah it will be great until someone hands you an acoustic guitar and you can't play it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

With an acoustic guitar, you don't need to buy anything extra and you don't have to worry about equipment and effects like with an electric guitar, so I would go with an acoustic guitar for a beginner!. Yeah, the sound might seem boring, but a beginner should be concentrating on how to play, not how to make the guitar sound cool for a rock band yet!. Decide if you like it and you want to stick with playing guitar after you have a good deal of experience, and if you do, go for the electric!. I didn't upgrade to my cheap electric guitar to my nice Fender Stratocaster until a couple months ago when I decided that I'm going to be a long-term serious guitarist!. To sum it up, acoustic is the best way to start out and get experience and finger strength even though it may sound tedious!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I teach classical and acoustic, and for all my beginners I recommend the acoustic, electric doesn't sound well until you know how to play it!. The students who didn't listen were sorry later and later did get an acoustic, because they weren't happy with the way they sounded on electric!. Everything that you learn on acoustic can be applied to electric later on!. Most think that it's easier then the electric!.!.!.!.!.plus you don't have to hook up everything you can just pick up the guitar and play without annoying others, you can even play late at night without bothering anyone !!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should choose an acoustic!. They have tighter action in the strings, which could get you used to pushing down hard!. If you choose to get an electric guitar after, you'll notice a difference!. With acoustic you can't get a rock sound out of it, but after you play for a while, you can start playing classical guitar!. (everyone loves it if they know how to play it) Your fingers will get caliced a lot if you play every day, which could be good or bad depending on your feelings toward that!. With electric, you can get so many different types of sounds because of effects!. The only bad thing about it is that you can't play it late at night or you'll wake the neighbors up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I personally prefer acoustic, because even though it's bigger, you can still rock if you know how and it prepares your fingers if you ever learn to play electric!. Electric is obviously smaller and needs an amp, though it's easier to play and can make some great sounds!. I actually like acoustic-electric the best, because it can be plugged in to an amp, but still holds most of the sound of an acoustic!. I started out with a 3/4 length acoustic, because I have a smaller figure, but whatever size is comfortable for you can work really well!. Hope I helped, and good luck with your decision!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well with the electric guitar,
playing is much easier, and softer on your hands!.
The downside is,
you'll need the amplifier, and the price a lot more than that of an acoustic!.

With an acoustic!.
It's rougher on your hands, but the price is cheaper!. Most beginners start off an acoustic!.
But this is your choice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, the strings on an electric guitar will be closer together, making the neck smaller, whereas on an acoustic the neck is broader, thus the strings are spaced out slightly wider!. Since you've been playing bass, the acoustic might be best for you, but then, like you already mentioned, it depends on your taste!.
Pick up one in your local store - maybe try a used one, just in case (; - and see how it feels!. Strum a bit and sit down with it!. G'luck and have fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i actually really like both!. acoustic is awesome and i think it would be what you would want to start out with rather than and electric!. but electric is cool cause with your amp you can get so many different sounds and effects!. its entirely up to you!. think about what sounds you would want and what you would like to play around with for your first guitarWww@QuestionHome@Com

well theres really not any pros and cons to either side besides maybe what goes into a specific guitar but nothing in general i suppose you could amplify an electric guitar and put distortion on and stuff but you can also do that with an acoustic electric so!.!.anyways i hope this helps God BlessWww@QuestionHome@Com

well i like acoustic better, i prefer it because like electric guitars are loud and you have to plug them in and stuff you cant use them every where!.
electric guitars are more for like rock and roll if ur into that!.
and acoustic guitars are more for like softer songs!.
