Question: How do indie bands make money when they perform at clubs!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The usual practice is that they get a percentage of whatever the door pulls in!. So maybe 5 or 10% of the cover charge goes to a particular band!. The promoter gets a cut, and the house gets a cut!. The rest is split, and if four bands are playing that night, between 5 and 10% seems to be about what one can expect!.

The idea is that if a band brings in a lot of people, they get paid more, because the house gets more money!. Of course, the house gets the majority of their money from beverage sales (alcohol - gret markup, constant demand)!.
