!. The difficulty level totally depends on how you learn music!. Some pick it up quickly, some never "get it!." Do you play anything else!?

!. All string instruments are priced wildly differently!. I would look into buying one from a private seller first!. I got mine from an instrument dealer - buys/sells/trades instruments and got a really good deal!. Look in the classifieds, ebay, etc!. Someone bought one for their kid who ended up quitting two years later!. There are lots of makers and brands, many are good!. It's all opinion, but for a psychobilly band, you'd want one that is set up well and puts out a lot of sound!. (not really high action) Have someone play it for you so you can hear it!.
(I like the old Kays for sound - other bassists will probably disagree!.)

!. Lessons!. Lessons!. Definitely lessons!. First, you will learn much faster with guidance!. Second, you will learn correctly!. Third, you will decrease your chance for injuries with the correct technique!. (carpal tunnel and tendinitis are not fun!.)

!. I'm a professional bass player and teacher!. Feel free to email me to ask any more questions!. I think this answer is already too long!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
