Question: Theme of the phantom of the opera!?
i have to do a research project for one of my summer school classes (english communications) and one of the things i have to cover is the theme of a musical in the 20th century and i already chose the phantom of the opera as my musical!.
my problem is when i search for the theme on google or another similar website, it only comes up with things dealing with the song ( the phantom of the opera theme)!.
can anyone tell me what the major theme is and tell me what source they used!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Wikipedia site gives a ton of information about Phantom of the Opera; here's the link:
http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/The_Phantom!.!.!.
According to Wikipedia the musical is based on the novel The Phantom of the Opera (French "Le Fant?me de l'Opéra") by Gaston Leroux, and it was "first published as a serialization in Le Gaulois from September 23, 1909 to January 8, 1910"!.
The major theme is hopeless love; the Phantom loves Christine, but she can never love him!. There are many sub-themes that arise from that main one (manifestations of violence, pity, jealousy, rebirth of childhood affection as mature love between Christine and Raoul, etc!.)!.
Hope that helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com
