I just saw it on Broadway!. Amazing production and voices but the show's not my favorite (bye bye Best Answer)!.

I felt the characters were pretty thinly drawn - I didn't really care that much about any of them!. The relationship between Elphaba and Glinda seemed forced and Fiyero barely existed as a stereotype!. That the wizard was her father was broadcast so badly that it wasn't even a surprise when it was revealed!.

Too bad too because it has some seriously interesting themes and it had potential for some powerful moments but because the setup was so thin it just had little impact!. BTW implying that Elphaba survives the melting is a bad attempt at a happy ending and robs the story of it's emotional impact!. If she dies its a tragedy!. If she gets away then it's just a silly romp through fantasyland!. Too bad Broadway doesn't have the cajones to forgoe a happy ending!.

This sometimes happens when you're adapting a book!. The playwrights either assume the audience knows a lot about the characters already so they don't develop them properly or there's just too much back story to cram into a couple of hours!.

Having said that, most of the music is gorgeous and the perfomances were stunning - well it is Broadway after all!.

I enjoy it, but not to the point of obsession!. Now, it can drive me crazy at times because of all the teenyboppers who won't shut up about it!.
