Question: Are whammy bars really necessary for a beginner's guitar!?
I've had my eye on a Les Paul for a while now, and I've just started taking my guitar playing seriously, Does the fact that it's missing a whammy bar mean I should not get it!?

Are they majorly important!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Like the others said, a vibrato bridge is only necessary for certain types of music!. However, a guitar with a trem can be used to play anything, you don't have to use it if you don't want to!. This is why the Fender Stratocaster and its many copies (Ibanez) are the most dominant electric guitar designs ever!.

For a beginner, a fixed-bridge makes tuning much more stable so you spend more time playing and less time tuning!. I've seen beginners playing a completely out-of-tune guitar because they didn't know how to tune! To help with this problem, a guitar with a tremolo bridge can be adjusted so it doesn't rock!. Later, when you get better, you can re-adjust the bridge and use the trem!.

Personally, I need a trem but I've spent years learning how to set them up so they stay in tune!. A lot of guitar players don't like trems because they don't know how to maintain them properly!. They'd rather just play, and who can blame them!?

Definitely not!. I've had my LP for about a year and had a different fixed bridge before that, and haven't missed having a whammy bar one bit!. For a beginner they're really more of a hassle than anything, because they cause the guitar to constantly go out of tune, and this can make you playing sound bad if you haven't yet developed an ear for when this is happening!. Les Pauls are some of the best guitars that you can buy!. It depends on the type of music you want to play, but a lot of professional musicians play Les Pauls and aren't bothered by not having a whammy bar!. And in the future, if you decide you really need one, you can buy a pedal that you can play your guitar through that will do the exact same thing as a whammy bar, but you can use your fixed bridge guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mate get the Les Paul!. I got a Ibanez just recently and I was looking forward to using the Whammy but I soon forgot about it and just enjoyed playing without it!.
Plus most beginners guitars have non-locking bridges so when you use the Whammy, your guitar goes out of tune easily!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are a beginner I think the whammy bar (unless your last name is Hendrix) would be counter-productive!. It will take you out of tune and you may have difficulty quickly achieving the effects you seek!.

Go for the Les Paul, you won't regret it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well depends on what music style you like to play
Whammy Bars are used alot in Metal like Pantera, Van Halen etc!.
But a LP is a great guitar even thougth it doesn't have a whammy bar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Only for certain types of music!. For what you want to do, it'll do just fine!. There are tricks to get it to sound the same, but I'd rather show you in person!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Whammy bars (tremelos) are never necessary for any guitarist, regardless of experience or proficiency!.

So, no!. Not important!.
