Hi Jade

You cannot put steel strings on a classical guitar and disregard what people say here!. You will rip the bridge off!. Their will be too much tension on their and not made for those strings!.
You can still learn with a pick without removing the strings!. That is your safest bet and it will sound good!. you won't be the only one playing like this on nylon!.

Later, get yourself a steel string!. At least, you will have picked up the picking techniques!. Just remember Jade, use alternate picking on every notes played!. This will help you oin the long run when you need to pick fast!.

Good Luck !!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah bronze strings are what I personally like for playing acoustic!. You might want to try them!.

But I find there are two different kinds of being good at guitar!. There's learning from sheet music or tabs to play songs as closely to the original as you can!.
Or learning music through guitar becoming a better player by learning timing, modes, scales, and keys!.

If you Went with option A; www!.ultimate-guitar!.com it has regular tabs as well as guitar pro and powertabs for most any popular song by most any popular artist + more

If you Went with option B; Well I haven't even been able to help myself figure that one out sorry!. but there are DVDs you could try to learn fromWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yes get bronze/steel strings and you can play with a pick!.Finger picking is somewhat difficult compared to playing with a pick!. I seriously think you should head back to the instructor or get a better instructor, learning to play guitar yourself is not difficult but its gonna take awful lot of time and its gonna be painful!.Just get your basics cleared and then you can start on your own by playing from tabs!.Theres a software called Guitar pro which is really helpful in advancing your skills!.don't go for websites or DVD's, they usually are a waste of money!.Just clear your basics and practice practice practice till it hurts your fingers!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go with an instructor!. I understand your initial hesitation- i had a teacher i wasnt satisfied with his teaching for a year- it was ridiculous!. Give a few a try, because you'll find one thats great, and your learning curve will be so much faster, and you'll know your not learning!.!.!.or playing anything wrong, getting into bad habits, etc!. Get a teacher!.

Look at the program 'Guitar Pro' - have have 'guitar pro 5' cause you can download tabs for your fave songs for guitar, and it plays it for you, so you can play along- learn just how it should sound, etc!. Ive found it a great help, its great!. Its not free, however, if you were clever you might, say, youtube and search the many videos on how to get it free!.

Very much worth it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What makes you think that if you couldn't learn how to play a classical guitar with a TEACHER helping you!.!.!. that you can put steel strings on it and learn for free of the internet!.

For one thing, guitars are DESIGNED to take a particular loading from the strings!. Classical guitars are designed to handle nylon strings and don't have the internal bracing that is necessary for steel strings!.

So!.!.!. if you put steel strings on it!.!.!. it's NEVER going to sound right!.!.!. but you are going to warp or split the top!.!.!. so it doesn't matter anywayWww@QuestionHome@Com
