to get a deeper tone, try tightening your ombecheur!.
also, try not to bite down too hard on the reed, but don't not bite it!.
try to get private lessons!.
stay after school and get your director to help you!.

hope you do marching band if your school has one!.
i'm so glad i'm in it!.

A lot of people start on clarinet when trying to play the saxophone, but it is definitely possible to start on alto!. Make sure you put the instrument together right (I didn't the first time I played), and either get a teacher or a really good book!. Be sure to learn how to read music and your scales at some point and you should be good to go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

PRACTICE!!!

learn all your major, minor, and modal scales by memory!. learn arpeggiated chords!.

but most importantly, GET A SOFTER REED!

three and a half!? are you serious!?

most professionals dont go harder than a two and a half!!

you probably started out on a soft one, and figured that meant the harder the better!. NO!!! move down to a two and a half immediately! your tone will get a lot better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
