Question: Does anyone play the cello!? is it easy to learn!?

Okay, I'm a university educated cellist!. I've been playing for 13 years so my beginning years are a bit fuzzy, but let me try to recall as best I can for you!.

Is it easy to learn!? No!. In comparison to STARTING something like piano or guitar, its not as easy!. I call this the 'initial ease of learning'!. The reason is the lack of frets, the bow, even holding it!. The stretch is a bit much for some hands (like mine!. I'm really small)!. However, after the first couple of months when you have the basics done, the learning process is quite pleasurable!. I found the better I got, the better the music I got to play, the more I enjoyed playing and practicing!. Practicing is annoying sometimes, but very rewarding, useful, and most of the time, fun!.

I find the biggest obstacle for people who want to learn is even renting the instrument!. Because its larger than violin, its more expensive! That's a pain in the butt, but to me a worthwhile investment!.

Anyway, if you have anymore questions, just message me!.

I played the cello for about six months, and then I got bored with the practices so I just quit playing it!. It wasn't exactly hard, but it is a lot of practicing!. I can practice piano/keyboard without getting bored, so I don't know what the difference is really!.

It depends on how patient you are [You need a lot of patience to play the cello], and it may help to have played other instruments in the past!.

Playing ANY instrument is never easy, otherwise everybody in the world would probably play one!. Basically, if you're willing to put time into it, you'll have an okay time with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

same as violin - there are positioning issues, and with a cello, it's hard to get a good sound because it's a bigger instrument!. There's a lot more finger strength involved because the strings are wider and heavier than a violin!. again though, if you get over a few humps like positioning and reading the music proficiently, it gets easier and easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
