Question: Piccolo or new flute!?
I've played the flute for 4 years(Pretty well, I think), and it's getting kind of worn out!. I want to buy a new one, but I also want to buy a piccolo!. Is the piccolo hard!? Would you recommend getting a piccolo instead of a flute, or the other way around!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

DEFINITELY move up to a better flute!. You are going to spend the vast majority of your time playing flute over piccolo anyway, so you want and instrument that will help you make the most progress!. Check out the website of Jen Cluff (goggle her) and you will find AMPLE info about what to choose!. PLEASE do not buy *something* off ebay - there are many TERRIBLE instruments there every day - only a VERY few decent ones!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

get the better flute any school band has a limited use for a piccolo player, that's why they generally only have 1 or 2 of them!.

Not to mention you're hearing will suffer more than you can imagine if you play the piccolo (lots of very high frequencies right by your ear)!.!.!. I played the piccolo for several years and have the decreased hearing in my right ear to show for it!.!.!. if you do go for the piccolo get some good ear plugs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

get a piccolo, if you can play the flute and have for four years then go to the piccolo and learn it is a lot like the flute!. As far as getting a new flute no way just get your old one serviced from a music shop and it will be good as new and won't cost a lot and it will be familiar!. Good luck they are both great musical instrumentsWww@QuestionHome@Com

I played both for years!. They're basically the same as far as finger positioning but the major difference is that the piccolo takes a lot more breath control!. I would recommend the piccolo because it will help make you more well-rounded as a flautist!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yup, get a better flute, maybe later you can shoot for the piccolo!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
