Question: How do I tune my guitar down a half step!?
I have a digital tuner with the name of the string on it, and it has these numbers written on it!. A regular tuning on my tuner is 450, and then halfway to the right is 460, and halfway to the left of the screen is 440!. Do these number show me where a half step is!? If not, how can I down tune!? Oh, and can I put a capo on one of the frets to make the same effect as a down tuneWww@QuestionHome@Com

a quick method is to fret the A string at the sixth fret and drop the E string to that note, then tune the other strings to the E string!. ( also, the 440, 450, & 460 numbers on your tuner refer to the frequency of the A note i!.e!., A = 440 hz !., also referred to as "cents" so a note tuned to 450 hz would be a bit sharp)Www@QuestionHome@Com

those numbers correspond to an A!. 440 is the standard A, but the 450 and 460 are still A's!. If you want to tune down a half step, use a piano and tune one string down, then tune the rest to it!.

You can't use a capo to tune down, because a capo will always make the pitches go up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
