Question: What do you do when your director has his/her head wedged in a warm, tight place!?
Just curious--when you KNOW the director is wrong!. How do you balance self-preservation and professionalism!?

Please no tedious sermons about how actors can't really know what is right and what isn't--been doing this stuff long enough to know when a director is out to lunch!.

What exactly do you DO!?

Is it different for dancers, or singers!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Then my suggestion would be to suck it up and deal with it in the most professional manner you can!. Be the better person!. If that's the director's "style" and that's "what (s)he want" then so be it!. Your job is to do what the director wants!. That's what you're getting paid to do!. Chances are, in your career you're going to run into more directors just like him/her or even worse!. Learn what you can and then move on!. And then also make a mental note that you never want to work with that director ever again!.

It won't look good on you if you up and leave when you're in an industry and profession that can be as much about who you know as what you can do!. Don't put a bad rep on yourself!. Show them you can persevere through any director :-)

Best of luck!

Oh, I just wanted to add, you know your limits better than anyone!. If this person is really truly driving you crazy then it's not worth sacrificing your sanity for!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
