Can anyone give me some pointers on how to play guitar and sing?

Question: Can anyone give me some pointers on how to play guitar and sing!?

I've been playing guitar for a while and I still can't get over that hump!. I can't sing and play at the same time!. If I start trying to sing my strumming or chord progression goes to ****!. I don't really like to sing on my own, but I would like to be able to sing and play!. Any ideas on how to learn!? Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had a hell of a time learning this myself, years ago!.

If singing is harder for you than guitar playing, then I suggest you completely master the guitar strumming part to the point where you can do it -- strum the rhythm, change chords, etc -- without having to think about it very much at all!. It should be pretty much automatic!. THEN you can focus the bulk of your attention on your singing and let the guitar part sort of take care of itself!.

OTOH, if the singing comes pretty easy to you and playing the guitar part is the harder thing to do, then practice the vocal part until you can sing it in your sleep without thinking about it very much, then you can focus the bulk of your attention on your guitar playing and let the voice take care of itself!.

The human brain can't really focus on 2 things at once, so if you can make ONE of the two things automatic, you'll be better able to do them both at the same time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
