Most beginning guitarists quit due to the pain involved getting the hands conditioned, start with the electric and this part mostly goes away, not entirely, but mostly!.

Regardless what anyone says, you need a teacher to get you started properly!. Go to your music store, ask about teachers, talk to each one and find the one that matches your personality!. Then ask him/her about the guitar to buy!. They have the experience, use it to your advantage!.

Try to learn off the Internet and you will quit due to lack of progress!. Besides, the Internet does not tell you which ones are full of baloney!. Even if it is only for a year, take the lessons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

dont follow all the dumb ppl that start acoustic!.
if u wanna be good, start electric, which is easier and doesnt hurt ur finger as much, plus better sound and u can get distortion and effects!.
if ur rich, start with a mexican fender strat!. if rich, start with a fender squire!.
dont get lessons!. theres sooooooo much stuff on u tube and ultimateguitar!.com

I started out with a cheap acoustic guitar that i still love!. Its a Honer HW200 is the model number to be exact!. It cost me less than 200 dollars and i've never taken formal lessons!. But its up to you to decide if you need them!. Its easy to find tutorials and chords all over the internet!. I would suggest starting with acoustic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Electric is easier but if you can play an acoustic you can play anything!. I would suggest an electric, small amp, a couple pedals and maybe once a week lessons!. Worked for me and I rocked hard back in the day!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I got an electric as my first guitar, and I'm still a beginner, but you should definately get an acoustic first!. I've never taken lessons, but my guitar did come with a booklet so now I know like maybe 8 chords and can play like four or five songsWww@QuestionHome@Com
