As far as I know, it is never too late to learn anything!. I myself am planning to learn an instrument now and I am in my twenties!. All it requires is passion, patience, time to practise and perseverance!.

Found this site about violinists which might help you!. Do check it out for sure!. It is very inspiring!. Here it is :

It's never too late!.

Take yourself down to the local music store and tell them you need to rent a violin(most likely a 4/4 or full size)!. They'll get you set up with a rental, bow, case, rosin, and all that!. Then, pick out a beginner's book(All For Strings is a good program, as is Essential Elements, but I'm sure there are many more books out there)!. also, ask them if they can point you in the direction of a private teacher!. You *could* teach yourself, but it's not the best idea as you need someone to really coach you through the basics, when you can learn something wrong and mess yourself up big time!.

After that, get ready for some hardcore practicing and dedication! I won't lie to you, it's going to be a hard instrument to learn!. But if you really want to learn, it's totally rewarding!.

I wouldn't suggest buying an instrument until you're absolutely positive you want to play for a long time, as good instruments are quite the investment!.

Good luck playing!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, its definitely not too late for you!.

I started teaching myself old-time fiddle by ear at the age of 33!. I'm now 50 and play in a bluegrass band as well as an old-time string band :-)

However, I also played old-time guitar, banjo and mandolin for several years before taking up fiddle, so I already knew a lot of the tunes, and I had (and still have) a number of fiddle playing friends that I played with regularly!. I could watch them up close and listen to their fiddling, tape record them and practice at home along with the tapes, and ask them questions about their playing!. All of that helped me immeasurably!.

If you have no previous musical experience and no violin playing friends to get coaching from, I would strongly advise you to find a good violin teacher with experience in teaching beginners and take lessons!. You need to learn the correct way to hold the instrument and bow and produce a decent tone and its best to learn this in the beginning, rather than teaching yourself in a vacuum, so to speak, and developing bad habits that you'll only have to unlearn later with great difficulty in order to make progress!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think that it's too late for you!. If you really want to learn to play it well though, I would consider getting a private teacher!. That would really help you to learn the right techniques instead of trying on your own and developing bad habits!. It's also going to take a lot of practice, so be prepared!. If you have any prior musical experience, that will be a big help because you already know basic music theory!. It sounds like a lot of work but it's really rewarding, trust me!. I get like that too!. If this is just on a whim, make sure to get a cheap violin in case you give up on it!. You don't want to be stuck with a violin that has cost you a decent amount of money!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My wife suddenly decided to take up the banjo!. It's not too late!. Buy or rent a violin and either take lessons or teach yourself with books!. My wife is teaching herself, and she's doing fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just started learning viola at 22!. There's no reason to think it's too late for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
