Congratulations! A professional clarinet, in most cases, means a wooden clarinet!. What you and your parents need to decide upon now is where you feel you might be headed with music, how much to spend, and where to make your purchase!.

The price-range runs from about $600!.00 to $6000!.00, or more, depending on the wood used for the body, and the metal used for the keys!.

If you can find an older Buffet clarinet, you can save a lot of money!. What you have to be careful about when you buy a used clarinet is whether all of the components, barrel, bell, etc!., match!. And, you will likely need to do a complete re-pad!. This can run into some money, but in the long run you can still come out ahead of the game!.

If you are fortunate enough to have a local music store that sells "quality" musical instruments, and has a qualified instrument repair department, please use them!. While the internet will offer many choices, where will you go if you have a problem!? Not the internet!.

I hope that you enjoy your new clarinet!

Best of luck to you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm a Buffet R13 player as well, but my advice is to get yourself to a good big reputable music store who carry more than one brand and model of wooden clarinet, and do a blind test - play several without looking at what they are, and see which you like best in terms of sound and feel!. Just make sure you use the same mouthpiece to test them all!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Okay, so I don't know much about different brands and stuff, but you're looking at something definitely made of wood instead of plastic!. I have been playing my grandma's old Buffet R13 for the past 6 months or so and I love it!. I'm told it's the best of the best, but I'm not so sure what one would cost you!.!.!. Anyway, Buffet is probably the way to go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you were going from beginner to intermediate I would say Buffet E11!.!. I own one it's the best!.!. but professional would be Buffet R13!.!. I've played one and I like my E11 better plus it's cheaper!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Print this and take it to your teacher for help!
