You have to have the right pickguard for it and you will need some hardware, which may or may not come with the pickup itself!. An active pickup will swamp other pickups, so if you put an EMG into the bridge then you'll not be able to use the other pickups very well, if at all!.

New pickguard (with a humbucker in the bridge), perhaps new pots (25k instead of 500k I think)!. You should be able to find instructions and diagrams at EMGs home page, link below!. First link is the wiring diagrams, second is the FAQ page!. I would suggest reading it thoroughly so you know what you're getting yourself in to!.

May I also suggest looking into Dragonfire pickups!? I've heard that they are supposed to sound at least halfway decent - and they're soooo much cheaper!. I don't know how much I trust an active pickup that sells for less than 50$, but who knows!.!.!. google it!.!.!.

kudos to Saul on the Dragonfire suggestion!. They've got active humbucker sets for strats that are all pre-wired and ready to bolt in (sorta), and they're under 100!.00 for the set!.

From my small amount of experience in digging around with active pickups, I know that the pots (knobs) will need to be changed out!. Your battery will need to be wired to the pickup and either through a switch mounted on the pickguard (which I don't know how to do) or set up like my dragonfire pickups where it's wired through the output jack to power up when you stick a cord in!.

That battery thing will be a pain in the butt!. You'll need to take off the strings and pickguard to change it out!. Since it's a squier, find a good spot that's solid wood and hidden by the pickguard, and drill a big old hole right through the guitar!. Run the 9v cord through a little hole drilled from the pickup/switching area to the hole you just drilled, and house the battery iin there and change the battery out from the back (you'll need to make a cap for the back!.!.!.use duct tape if you don't care!.

again, I would suggest Dragonfires, or!.!.!.!.the real versions from EMG!.
also, if you're trying to wire up an active pickup to work with passive pickups, I have heard it done, but I'm sure you'll have a lot of work on your hands!.

also, here's the link to Dragonfire!. The site is kind of janky, but the product is good enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
