Question: How to play F chord correctly on guitar!?
Is there an easy way to play an F chord on guitar!?
Whenever I try playing it, my finger always touches and mutes the 5th and last string, so the sound doesn't come out!.

These are the fingerings I use:
e -x-|---|---|---|---|
B -x-|---|---|---|---|
G ---|-x-|---|---|---|
D ---|---|-x-|---|---|
A ---|---|-x-|---|---|
E -x-|---|---|---|---|

I use my index finger to hold down both the B and e string (5th and 6th) on the first fret!. but my middle finger on the G always touches the B string so it mutes the sound the B string is supposed to produce!. Oy!. I don't know how to get all the notes to come out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

[Not to correct you, but for the sake of clarity as you communicate with other guitarists, the e and B strings are the 1st and 2nd strings, respectively!.]

There is no easy answer to your question!. You're doing everything right, but it'll just be a matter of time until you can play the F chord correctly!. If it's any consolation, every single learning guitarist goes through exactly what you're going through with that *&^$* F chord!.

Your other option is to play the F chord as a barre chord!. Use your index finger to fret all six strings, your middle to play the 3rd string at the 2nd fret, your ring finger to play the 5th string at the 3rd fret, and your pinky to play the 4th string at the 3rd fret!. You may or may not find that any easier!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As an alternative method, consider using the Merle Travis/Chet Atkins's style of using the thumb to catch the sixth string in the first fret instead of barring the neck with your forefinger!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to just use the tip end of your middle finger and not the side where your fingerprint is, it will hurt until you build up a callous there and it gets tough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
