Question: I want to start electric guitar! But!.!.!?
I am right handed most of the time (I can write with both, but it takes a bit longer)!. But for some reason, when I play guitar hero, I'd rather use my left hand to strum and my right to press the keys!. I'm thinking of starting to play guitar (real, not guitar hero) and I was wondering if it was more expensive to buy a left handed one, or have the strings switched around some how (I don't know anything about this)!. Or, if so, do you think I should try to learn with my right hand strumming, even though its hard!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nowadays, they are priced the same!. also, it is easier to find a second hand left-handed guitar b-cuz not many play them and you will find very good high end guitars like fenders etc!.!.!.

I am left handed and started like you but decided to play the correct way!.
But, I was to start all over again, I would have played left handed!.
Follow your instinct and play standing on your head if you want to!. The issue is not there but rather in the love for the instrument!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

lefty guitars are indeed more expensive!. you can put the strings on the other way on righty guitars, i'm not sure if there are any complications with doing this really except for pick guards and stuff like htat will be upside down!. but jimi hendrix did exactly that with his fender strat so it's for sure possible!. if i were you i'd do that instead of using your other hands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Playing Guitar Hero has absolutely NOTHING to do with playing a guitar!. Get a Strat!. If you think you'd seriously play left handed, go to the local music store, a Guitar Center if you have one nearby, and try both left and right!. There will be less selection in left handed guitars, but the same model shouldn't cost any more in a left handed version!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It would be alot better if you learned with your right hand for a couple of reasons!. Oh and by the way, Guitar Hero isn't anything like the real guitar!. My first reason is that, 75% of guitars are made for right handed players!. Let's say there is a really nice Gibson, but they're only made for a right handed player, and you're a lefty player, too bad there!. Second reason, Playing with your right hand might actually feel better since you are a right handed person!. I am ambidextrous, so this reason does not affect me, but it might affect you!. Go to guitar center, or any other music shop that sells guitars, pickup a right handed guitar, play anything, and see how that feels!. Compare that to a left handed guitar, which feels more comfortable, and which is more playable!? In my opinion you should learn to be a right handed guitarist!. Now to answer a couple of more questions you posted up!. A left handed guitar can be more expensive than a right handed guitar (For example a left handed Gibson Les Paul compared to a right handed Gibson Les Paul, about a $300 difference) because they need to put more labor into the guitar rather than having everything set!. Unfortunately, reversing the strings on a right-handed guitar is not sufficient, since the entire instrument must have all its parts reversed to produce an acceptable tone!. Jimi Hendrix for example used a right handed guitar and played it left handed, but the problem is here is that, he had everything switched except for the headstock and the pots!. The process of reversing a right handed guitar can be very expensive, the work ranging from $600, to $2,000; so you're better off buying a left handed guitar, however you might not find very many of them!. Hope this Helps!
