Have to admit that I practiced 6 hours a night , every night but I became profiicient rather quickly!. I listened to a lof of instrumental Venture albums and developed a very good timing and ear training!. As for the lessons, I charge $75 an hour but I only teach advanced students!. You are paying less because you are a beginner!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Depends on where you live but it seems in most parts of the U!.S!., $20 for half an hour is about right!. Of course, some well known teachers can and do charge a lot more for advanced lessons!. But for beginner lessons, that's reasonable!. As for how long it would take to get to the intermediate level, and how much you would learn -- that depends entirely on you -- how much innate musical aptitude you have, how much time you're willing and able to spend practicing every day and how conscientiously you apply yourself!. Only you can answer that question!. One thing I can tell you is that if you expect to pick up a guitar today and be playing in a band in 6 months, you're probably going to be disappointed!. Unfortunately we can't say exactly how long it will take as lessons just guide you better and (hopefully) teach you proper techniques!. What you put into it will determine how fast you progress!. Unless you have a bad teacher, you should learn a lot!. After all, you know nothing (about guitar), so what is there for you to not learn!?
