Question: Tenor, Alto, Bari!? What kind of SAXOPHONE has a low note of F, the F that the clef is on in standard notation!?

Do you mean in concert pitch!? If it is the music that the saxophone itself reads, none go that low!. They all read down to a Bb below middle C (except for some bari saxes that go to the A below that)!. For alto and baritone saxophone, a concert F would be a D, and they both can read that and sound that note (in bass clef), but it is not their lowest note!. For tenor, concert F would be a G, and the tenor sounds the F in the bass clef, but again, it is not the lowest note!.

The other guy is right for the most part (reinforcing what I already said), but he has one thing wrong!. The bari sax is NEVER written in bass clef!. All saxophones are written in treble clef!. Most sound in the bass clef, but they are never written there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They all have a low f, but that is not the lowest note on any of them!. Generally the sax's range is from a low Bb to a high F!. Some Bari-Sax's go down to a Low A and some Alto's and Tenor's go up to a high F#!. The Alto and The Tenor are in Treble Clef, where as the Bari is often written in Bass clef!. The Alto and the Bari are in Eb, where the Tenor is in Bb!. I hope this answers your question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perhaps you mean a C melody sax!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
