DO NOT SLOUCH!.!.!. good posture is critical when using breath support!.

also to strengthen your breath support, try these excercises:
1!.) Lay flat on your back with a book or two on your stomach, take a deep breath and slowly let it out
2!.) Put a notecard up against a wall, stand facing the wall with your nose about two inches from the wall, take a deep breath, begin blowing on the notecard and let go of the notecard, see how long you can hold the notecard on the wall with your breath alone!.
3!.) Put your hand on your diaphragm (below your bellybutton), take a deep breath, make sure the front AND back of your stomach expands as much as possible, and say "HA HA HA HA", your stomach should tighten every time you say "HA"
4!.) Sing while holding a chair up!. This incorporates your stomach muscles into your singing!.

thats all I can think of right now!.!.!.

GOOD LUCK! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Breath control is one of the most difficult parts of singing, but once you master it, your skills will expand twofold!.

You must try to breathe "low!." When you breathe, make sure that your chest expands and that your shoulders do not raise!. Put your hand below your abdomen around your belt or waistband and imagine that you are breathing down into the ground!. That lower area should expand!. (Don't worry about looking "fat!" The sound is the most important thing!)

also, breath support is key!. After you breathe deeply and begin to make a sound, make sure that your rib cage is expanded outward and that your upper chest feels slightly tense or tight!. Feel like you are lifting the air upward from inside your chest and holding it!. Do not let out too much air at once, and do not take unnecessary deep breaths for short phrases; you may become quickly winded this way!.

Do not sing from your throat - your throat should not hurt after singing!. When you release your air, release it as though the sound is resonating inside your cranium!. Keep the sound in the mask, but not in your nose; you do not want to sound nasal, but you also do not want to sound "breathy!."

After singing, if you use these methods, unless you sing for a large amount of time, (ie!. Intense 4-hour rehearsal or difficult performance) you should not feel vocally tired!.

Hope that helps! If you need anything else, you know where to find me!. I've been singing for a long time and my vocal teacher has always most stressed proper breathing and breath control!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sing the word "sing" and hold the "ng" position, then "hum" with your mouth open!. Do scales, leaps, etc!. and "sing" your song this way!. This is the resonant hum!.

The lip whistle, you go "p-p-p-p-p" like a child doing a motor boat while making a pitch in your throat!. Do siren sounds, and again, sing your song this way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
