Your fingers will definitely be sore after just starting playing the G string!. But eventually they will develope calluses!. To help speed up this prcess, you can do what I call "finger pops!." Just bounce your fingers on each string several times!. Or you can do "kissing doves" while you have nothing else to do (like, while you're bored in class)!. Put the tips of each finger together so that the tip of your right index finger is against the tip of your left index finger, and pound each set of fingers together!. First, pointer finger, then middle finger, then ring finger, then pinky finger (which you will use on your G string eventually)!. These excercises will help strengthen your fingers so that it's easier to push down the string!.

If you do these excercise religiously for a few months, but are still seeing no improvement, check your left hand position!. Is your thumb straight!? It should be!. Is your wrist turned in towards your body!? You want the pinky side of your wrist turned towards your body!. Is your thumb under the neck of the instrument!? Your thumb should be under the neck of your violin!. If you still have problems reaching the G string (I think that's your problem), you can bring your elbow forward (towards the E string) so that you have an easier time reaching!.

Now look at your bow hand!. Make sure that your bow hold is correct!. If you're having a hard time with the bow tone, make sure that your putting enough pressure onto the string!. Your index finger should be exerting this pressure, not your elbow!.

Try the excercises before trying anything else!. also, talk to your teacher about this!. She probably can help you more than I can!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course it is natural if you are not used to pressing strings, they get harder, I don't know why exactly!. As for the fingerings for the G, you are ether pressing weirdly, it might be because of long nails, or if you have a cr@appy violin, or it is from school, it might be of bad quality, or the sound post is broken (the little wood pole that is always uncentered inside!. By the way, districts sometimes just buy the worst violins, yes they can eat up at the music programsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Try cleaning your strings with steel wool!. Usually, a build-up of rosin can affect the sound!. also, make sure your fingers are pressed down all the way and try playing closer to the bridge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
