It all depends on which sax you're moving to!. Tenor sax is a great choice coming from clarinet!. The fingerings are slightly different from the clarinet (similar to the upper register), but it's still in Bb, which means you'll end up in the same key signatures you were in before, so not as big a problem there!.

If you're going to alto sax, watch out! You'll need to practice your fingerings and scales over and over because alto sax is in Eb!. You'll be playing more often in keys that feature a lot of sharps, so you'll need to be more careful with the key signatures!. Same story for the bari sax!.

These instruments are easy to get a sound out of (though more difficult to make them appealing) and are all commonly written in treble clef!. Coming from clarinet, I would prefer the tenor to start off, just to get used to the fingerings in an easier key!. Then you can decide to move to alto if the parts aren't interesting enough (or not fun enough)!.

I personally have preferred sticking with clarinet over sax, although I prefer the bassoon over clarinet!. Why not try the bassoon!? It's interesting, different, and one of the highest paid members of the orchestra!Www@QuestionHome@Com

by the looks of it the clarinet looks easier less looking buttons!.!.!.then again since i used to play the flute thats soo much more easier easy button placement and regular notes!.!.!.then again in my case i think you'll hafta have a lot of self esttem and courage to play the flute!. like you wouldn care if you messed up or not (the flute you hafta blow hard so u can hit the higher notes and everyone hears you)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play clarinet, and I've found that the saxophone is not really any easier or harder, just different!. It may seem harder at first, though, since you'll be starting new!. As for your second query, clarinet is way more fun!. It's not even funny!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think their both hard!. But I used to play the clarinet and this guy who played the saxophone said clarinet is a lot easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
