If you want a good inexpensive guitar, take a look at Epiphone Les Paul series!. They are not expensive, have an awesome sound and action!. The guitar is also factory set perfectly!.
You can get the guitar for $250 and $75 for the amp!. Don't let the price fool you!. It is a good buy!. You have a good choice of Les paul for any budget!.
The main thing to remember is that it has good re-sale value if you ever want to sell it and upgrade!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you plan to keep at it, any guitar is good, just make sure you like it, before you buy it, chances are, you wont be buying another one for a while!.

As for prices, I'd say a couple of hundred UK pounds (you may need to convert)

in the uk you could pick up a really decent fender mexican strat or an epiphone les paul for about ￡200-￡250!.
Myself i'd go for the mexican strat every time because of the almost professional sound they give!.And they are so easy to play with a lovely low action tooWww@QuestionHome@Com
