Question: How do I get over an embarrassing fall during a performance!?
I am a professional dancer and during my show my dance partner missed me during a stunt and I went crashing straight to the floor!. I did get up right away and completed the performance but now I am seriously traumatized!. I have nightmares about it every night, and when Im awake Im totally obessed about it and it constantly replays in my head!. I do continue to perform there regularly and time isnt helping me get over this embarrassment!. I feel that everyone including myself sees me as a failure!. Before I was seen as a great dancer who nails my stunts each and everytime, one fall and now my entire reputation is ruined!. Instead of enjoying my performace they now just look and wait to see when am I going to fall again!. I know Im a perfectionist but its how achieved everything up to this point!. I am just so ashamed, depressed, and obessed about this episode!. Its taken over me entirely!. What do I do!? How do I constantly face these people, it hurts so bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would have to say, that is a tough situation!. Your esteem is very fragile, especially in such a competitive environment, however usually we are our worst critics, and others don't see us at all the way we imagine them to!. But, on the other hand, we are talking about dancers, and being an ex-professional dancer I know the heartache you are experiencing!.

There was an episode of Sex in the City, and Carrie was asked to model, and she took a fall during her catwalk on the runway, and people walked over her and kept going!. Talk about humiliation, she got up, and walked in her jeweled underwear!. You go girl!.!.!.It takes more bravery to get up and move on than it does to wallow in the what if's!. I say, "Put your dancing shoes on and start the music, because they have yet to see your best performance, and that is the one they will remember!"Www@QuestionHome@Com

My God! Your ego is overwhelming! Be a pro and let it go! You are powerless to change the past, and you are about to earn a masters degree in making mountains out of molehills from paranoid university! Fear is essentially a lack of faith, faith in yourself, your dance partner, and even in your training!.
You had a humbling experience-found out that you are human-now accept it and move on!

btw; fear can be an acronym;
false eveidence appearing real!
f=false
e=evidence
a=appearing
r=realWww@QuestionHome@Com

Learn to laugh at yourself!. Or ask yourself, "Does this really matter!? Am I helping anyone or anything by thinking this way!?"!. Seriously, focus on what you have done well! And do well again! Instead of thinking over and over about not doing badly!.!.!. yes!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
