You may want to try a softer reed, but if those really seem like they're a close fit for you, break them in more carefully to improve their sound!. To do this, soak them in water for about 20 seconds!. Take them out of the water, dry them, and put them back in their sleeves!. Let them dry overnight!. Repeat this for about 2 more nights!.

Then try playing each reed in medium range for about 30 seconds, and put them back in their cases!. A little bit later, suck on the reed for a few seconds, wet the top so there's a thin, visible layer of water, and blow into the wide end!. If there are no bubbles coming out of the top of the reed, it's ready to use!. Granted, some reeds will still sound better than others!.

You may also want to try a Vandoren mouthpiece!. Bring your clarinet and your tuner to a music shop and try out a few!. They really helped improve my tone!. Be sure to try a few and make sure there are no scratches on the flat side!. A better clarinet is also a (more expensive) option!. Selmers and Buffets are great!. I wouldn't go for the clarinet option until you've tried improving the reed and mouthpiece though!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

wow!. 3 1/2!?
not a good idea!.
try a 3!.
they are the perfect size for me, and hopefully will work better for you!.
work on your ombature(sp!?)
and try to work on your tone!. tone is the key thing to having a nice warm clarinet sound!. and try tuning, that might help a little bit!.

i have experience with the clarinet first is sit up straight put your form/position on the clarinet and you have to make sur eto cover thre holes and make sure the reed is covering the hole mouth peice not to much not too little!.Last thing is dont let ur cheeks blow hold ur muscles in ur mouth,Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off try a softer reed!. The tonal quality you are looking for comes only with experience!. Having a good quality Clarinet helps too but you can make a beginners Clarinet sound good with time!. Be patient and practice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
