Bass amps are better at reproducing bass notes than guitar amps, by design!. You MUST use bass speakers!. Basses operate at an octave below guitars and that's (low notes)where all the stress is on a speaker (voice coil primarily)!. They will not hold up to bass notes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you could use a smaller amp if you want, depends how much power you wanted for output, and you may find some used bass amps for lower price then a new regular so maybe shop around,

Bass amps have different speakers that can take a lot more punishment and take a different range of sound!. Guitar amps will puke when you really start slamming on it, although playing soft would be fine!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
