Question: Help on Electric Guitar!?(Quick 10 Points!!)!?
Okay I'm new at playing my guitar, and I wanted to learn how to play the song One by Metallica!. There's a part at the beginning where it goes 4b6r4~ !. I really have no clue how to do whatever it is!. If you can just explain it that'd be great!. also, what is the ~ supposed to mean!? Any other tips also!? How do you mute!? Normally, what do these signs mean: () and T, and how do you do it!? Thanks!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

b and r are bend and release!. They mean bend up to a certain note, then release, or bend back down!. the tilde means vibrato!. () usually indicates a ghost note, but I'd have to see the tab to know exactly what it meant - some people use them to mean harmonics or tapped notes!.

T means tap - if you see a series of notes that have T, then it's probably a two hand tapped lick!.

Mute is one of at least two things - either x where you touch the string but don't fret it, and still play it, making a slight "chucka" sound, or when you silence the strings by touching them and not strumming them, which I don't think is indicated in tab!.

'One' is a pretty complex song - start off slow!. Don't tackle the solo straight off, learn the rhythm part and be able to play it through, eventually, at time to the record!. Learning proper rhythm skills will give you what it takes to play (and write) good leads and solos!.

If you try to play it at full speed too soon you'll either get frustrated or play it incorrectly (or both)!. Make sure your notes are clear, not muffled, and in time!.

Oh yes, that part!. Well the "4b" means to bend the string on the 4th fret of whatever string it said to play on!. I have never heard of the "r" on the "6r" part, but it might be a pull off!. the "4~" means to give vibrato on the 4th fret of whatever string it said to play on!. The sign "~" means to give vibrato in general, this is accomplished by shaking your tremolo arm [the arm on the bridge is the tremolo arm or the "Whammy bar"(if you have one)] a little bit, OR, you could move your finger up and down while playing the note making a Vibrato note!. Muting (or palm muting as some call it), means to put the palm of your hand on the very end of the strings (On the bridge side of the guitar!) lightly and play a note, which will give you a "muted" sound!. The term "()" usually comes after a "b" sign, it means to bend to that note (Example: 4b(6) would mean to bend the 4th fret as if you were trying to make the same note on the 6th fret!.) Well, hope this helps!

start on the 4th fret and bend [b] it up to what the 6th fret would sound like then release [r] it back to the 4th!.
and the ~ means vibrato [make it sound like it's going in and out of tune just a little bit]

hope that helped :]Www@QuestionHome@Com
