Question: Is it bad to mix different types of strings on a guitar!?

Not necessarily, certain strings may have particular qualities that you want to emphasize out of your guitar!. For example, assuming you have an even command over the instrument,

You might really like the lower notes on your guitar but your higher strings are too "bright", using a different brand of string may help to subdue the uneven sound!.

Just be careful about different gauge/string tensions, and mixing nylon strings with steel strings!. That can make playing very strange because of inconsistent tensions and different tactile behaviors!.

brings up an interesting point, it depends on how experienced you are with the instrument, if you're still new then I would recommend against mixing strings as well!. If you have a private teacher or closely know people who perform professionally, they would be good people to consult as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

YES!.!.!. it won't hurt the guitar but it can certainly give you some funny sounding chords!. At your level you probably don't pay over $3 for a set of strings anyway, so when you break a string, just put on a new set!.!.!. and buy a tuner if you don't already have one because you will keep breaking strings and you can even damage the guitar by overtightening a string!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes! There are no reasons to do it and many not to!Www@QuestionHome@Com
