Question: Best college music theory book!?!!?
the reason i ask is because im taking AP music theory next year and i want to study a bit over the summer!.
ive never taken basic music theory but have been involved in instrument playing for 13-ish years!.

I was taking MUS232 at Mt!. Holyoke college--that's theory I, but you have to pass out of basic music theory to take it!. We were using two books: the first one, Tonal Harmony, was by Stefan Kostka and Dorothy Payne!. The other was Listen and Sing, by David Damschroder, and that was for ear-training and sight-singing!. We also studied counterpoint, which wasn't really in either of those books!.

If you've been studying an instrument for thirteen years, I wouldn't worry TOO much, though!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
