Question: How can I get better and better at acting besides acting classes and joining local plays!?
I mean, is there a way that you could practice acting alone in your house everyday!. Because unlike singing, sports or playing an instrument which you could practice and train everyday with the right tools to become the best in that certain field, acting is different!. How do you train yourself in acting so you can become the best in it!? And is it just subjective, meaning other factors like the roles given to you, the emotional depth of the roles given to you, natural talent and your personality affect how your being good at acting is determined!? How can I have an advantage over those thousands of people who are also auditioning for roles in certain films or tv shows!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course your best improvement is going to come from the experience of working with other actors/directors and from taking acting classes and working with acting coaches!.

There are some things you can do by yourself, though!. Read acting theory books (Stanislavski, etc!.) and books on movement, stage combat, anything related to theater!. Read plays and think about how you would do certain roles!. Get a mirror and spend time each day doing monologues in front of it and working on expression and vocal power!. Watch movies and go to see plays as often as possible-- these are the actors you aspire to be as good as, so watching how they work their craft is going to help you!. Don't watch for plot, though!. Watch for the choices the actors are making and how they tell the story of their particular character!. Find different versions of the same movie or play and compare the work of the different actors in the same roles!. (Romeo and Juliet is a great one to do this with since there are a LOT of versions of it!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

My dear, you really have to believe in yourself, that u can make it!. then try watching other people and try to find out where they did well and where they did not present well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Seems to me that the way to become a better actor is to act -- in school productions, in local community theatre, anyplace where you get a chance to practice your craft!. Not sure how you can effectively practice acting alone in your house without another actor to interact with, or an acting coach to observe your performance and offer feedback!. I suppose you could video yourself doing a dramatic monologue or something, then watch the video and critique your own performance -- IF you have the capacity to be objectively critical of your own performance!. Not everyone does!.

Of course the scope of the roles you get makes a difference, as does your personality and natural talent!. But a good actor can take even a small role and create emotional depth, and a lousy actor can take a role with potential depth and make the character look like a shallow cardboard cutout!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
