Question: Can You Help Me Take Better Care of My Saxophone Reeds!? How Do I!.!.!.!.!?
I've been playing saxophone for about eight years, but lately I've come across a problem as I now play every day as opposed to only a few times a week!. My reeds (I now use 3 Vandorin) stop working after a few trys!. I use to soak them in some water before their first use and I used to take them and slowly "work them in" instead of now when I just put a new one on and play!.!.!.!.If I go back to what I was doing, will that help me!? Any suggestions!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try keeping three or four reeds around and rotate through them!. also, replace them on a rotating basis, and they will most likely last longer!. You're right to condition them before using!.!.!.it will help them to retain their moisture and stay flexible longer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hmm im not sure, i play clarinet but have never come aross that problem before!. are they stopping working after a few blows, is that what you mean!.!? try asking in the shop where you buy your music things from!. they may be able to advice and they will probaby know better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Buy a reed case!. (Not expensive, about $1!.99)

After you play, run your reed under some water gently (reeds are fragile) then, place them in a reed case!.

Thats what I do, every time I'm finished playing my Alto Saxophone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh yeah! Reeds need to be soaked and broken in slowly! Go back to doing what you were doing before! It should work !. You can also learn to adjust them using a reed clipper and a pen knife! But this takes an expert so ask your sax teacherWww@QuestionHome@Com

after each time uve practiced, store it in a container, you can buy them from a music shop!. it will take time to take it out n put it back in but its worth it!. i used to play clarinet and believe me, its worth it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
