Yes, depending on the make/model of the replacement there will have to be some space filled in!. Let a professional do it!

Or, buy another strat model with the three single coils!. that way you can keep your Humbucker sound, plus have another thats just single colis and can switch between both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
