Question:Ok...I realize that I wont be able to make a band with my cousin, and I was wondering if I still want to be a singer, can I get in touch with a record company and they set me up with a group that needs a vocalist? Or if I sing good enough, will they allow me to be a soloist vocalist? I don't know how to play guitar, and I'm only limited in piano.

If you are a talented pianist/vocalist, I would make a demo recording of your BEST (and I mean BEST!!!!) stuff. It doesn't have to sound like a polished, professional recording, but it needs to showcase your absolute highest point of your talent.

If the record companies like what they hear, they may approach you to do some recordings and they'll set you up with producers and studio musicians that will fill in your missing band.

Now, this opens up another topic... how to get the record company's attention. The best way to do that is to find a talent agent or entertainment attorney that will approach the record label on your behalf. Without that go-to person, record companies may not take you seriously and may not even listen to your demo.

Good luck... it's a very tough industry to get into. But, don't give up. Keep trying!!!

a record company will not help you unless you are already famous. they are in buisness to make money not to help people. you should try to put together your own thing then get a demo tape and then go to the record company
