Some people are just better at making the sound then others especially if they have played another woodwind instrument before. The clarinet teaches you to keep your lips tight in a similar way that you would need to play the flute. The real trick is if you can do some fingerings and still get sounds out. Its harder to do.

If you already play the clarinet, you have some idea of how to control your breath so you have a better chance of getting a good sound than someone who has never blown anything but a balloon. You may indeed have a natural talent, however. Give it a try and see what happens. Many very fine musicians play several instruments.

It could just be good luck, right before a concert we play "Musical Instruments" and pass ours around and try new ones, and Flute isn't really too hard.

I find this topic rather interesting.
I think it's common for bandies to play other instruments well.
I've learned in my many years of playing flute that just because you got the note, doesn't mean you had the pitch in tune. (In my oppinion, the WORST part about playing flute) It takes a lot of work. I believe i saw another post of yours asking about playing sax or flute. I would suggest playing the sax first and slowly build up to other instruments. I went from flute to oboe to clarinet to sax.
If you do choose to play flute, good luck to you in everything you do. Practice makes perfect.

Depends! There are so many factors that contribute to making a sound! I would say it was just luck and good mouth shape! Flute is a fairly easy instrument TO START But to constantly play its a bit different! There are many doublers that double on Flute/Clarinet etc. So maybe you can start the Flute when you are a bit more experienced with the Clarinet! Esp if you want to play professionally!
