Bass Guitar Double Thumbing?

Question:As taught by our Bass Lord Victor Wooten, I can't quite seem to grasp double thumbing. Is it practical to use your ring finger with index, and middle to substitute a faster style of bass?

Wow....this guy is very good. His technique is that he is using his thumb like a guitar which uses up and down strokes. He got that from his brother who plays guitar and decided to pretend his thumb was a pick.
Very effective technique but you can accomplish speed by using the index , middle, and ring finger and still get the same speed. His technique is to make it less tiresome, less finger and hand movement.
