Position:Home>Performing Arts> Any good idea about earning quick money? (a LOT of it)?

Question:so here is the situation::
I really really really want to go to this summer camp, well there are two, and both cost $3000 (well, the one i REALLY want to go to is $3100) and thats pretty dang expensive
(at least to for my family) and thats not includeing the plane ticket to get to and from there.

And lets just say, to do this, my mom would have to work 38, 40 hour weeks.
and i would feel really bad, and we would have to eat like someting really cheap for like two years.

anyways, i want to help with the fundings to get me there and everything. I have right around $700, (which isnt much, but a start) and im not really at the age where there are tons of job oprotunities...
(im 15)

so...any ideas on how i can earn that much money in just a few months?

i know, its a really long shot, but i dont try, i will hate myself.

THANKYOU! :]

(i put it in preforming arts section because its an acting camp)

I'm going to have to agree that making that kind of money in that short a time is a little too much to expect. I'm sure I know which two camps you are talking about, and while they are terrific, they are also overpriced. Also, the thing is, these are just camps, they are not training schools. Also, first time campers do not often end up with large roles - these kids go back to these places summer after summer.

However, I really admire what you are trying to do, and I think others do too. Being willing to work for something you want is very, very admirable. Especially compared to the dozens of snotty "I am talented and where do I get an agent" posts we see here.

How about this - There are more than a few knowledgeable professionals on yahoo q&a. Doc comes to mind among others. If you would like to (safely) post what area of the country you are in (no personal info, no addresses, no specific locations), I will personally spend some time looking up community theatres and maybe some small training programs that are near you and post them here. I'm sure others would be willing to as well. Please ask your Mom if she thinks this is okay. Again, do not post any specifically personal info.

Conversely, you could look them up yourself if you'd like. Look in the phone book and search using google for live theatres / community theatres in your town or general area. You do not want talent agents and acting classes - that can be hard to navigate and can cost you money. Stick to community theaters. They can often be the best training, as said above. That way, you can get your feet wet and see what this is all about. You might also find a Summer theatre in your area!

turning trix?

work the streets sister. learn to use that thumb of yours on the street corner.

There are a few options that I can think of. Most obvious is a part time job. At 15 you can't work a whole lot of hours, but its there. Also you could do stuff around the neighborhood like mowing lawns and the like. If you know someone that works or owns a restaraunt or something like it, you could always ask if they would put up a jar for donations fo you with something on the side of it explaining the situation.

If your 15 and have good grades you can get a part time job.. That would give you like around 1,000 more but you would have to work on the weekends also... IF you couldn't full time on the weekends then you could baby sit, mow lawns, sell lemonade, start a car wash... You could also go around to your family and see if they need there houses cleaned or walking dogs, collecting cans, doing errands for people... Start scrounging for change and save it up then take it to coin star believe me I took in like a hand full and got about 15.00 Good Luck!

I'm impressed that you are willing to work toward your goals. There are always opportunities in plenty for someone who is willing to do so.

Aside from the usual babysitting and yardwork, here is an idea:

Go to Costco or one of those warehouse stores, and get a large pack of either candy bars or maybe chips assortments (you know, Cheetos, Doritos, Lay's, etc). Say you do the math, and each bag costs you 70 cents. After school, go door-to-door and see if you can sell them for a dollar. It's important to have that $1 price, or maybe $2, depending on what it is, because people won't put up resistance to just a dollar. Explain that you're raising money to get to camp on your own. The best time to go is right around dinner, when people are hungry. You might even wear bells, so that previous customers might hear you coming, and come out for more. If someone says they're not interested, thank them and move on, don't try to convince them. Anyway, after you sell one box, you can judge whether the scheme is viable or not. If you move quickly, you might be able to raise a lot this way.

If you live in an unsafe area, this might not work for you.

I raised the equivalent of what would be $50 a day doing this when I was your age. It's hard work, and you need the discipline to keep at it every day.

But don't neglect your homework in order to raise money. That's killing yourself in the long term.

Also beware of internet moneymaking schemes. Lots of scams out there.

i really admire how you want to do that and are working towards it
if youre an artist (any type) than heres a good idea:
teach something! if you sing well, try to get some younger kids (like 6th grade) to get lessons. you could charge like atleast $6 for a half-hour. or tutor! you could have teachers recommend you for younger kids. you could teach at school, their house, your house, the library.
why this works: parents dont want to pay a lot for lessons, but a lot of kids still want to learn things. you're probably a lot closer to the students than an older professional.
if theres a big event coming up than even better!something like solo and ensemble contest is great because people have solos and need advice from someone older and experienced.
Good luck, i hope you get it!
let me know how it turns out!

no way you are going to clear 3 grand in that short of time. the best acting camp is community theater!!

there are a lot of talented people with great experience doing community theater. it's free and you can build your resume at the same time.

the best role for a 15 year old girl is Puck.

it is Shakespeare and the role is traditionally a female.
every place i know does Shakespeare in the summer and mid summer nights dream is always at the top of the list.

and your mom can come to see you perform!! talk about a win win.

well if you play an instrament then you can give people lessons and charge them.. and then getting a job could always help.
