In certain situations, confusing these two can be critical. I learned about the two types working for a security (alarm) company. When it comes to musical instruments, shielding is critical because it can affect sound (hum in particular) tremendously. Good thing for every musician to know!

shielded usually has like a thinker out side than normal so it lasts long and unshielded is just like the wires and something over it not litterly not u get the idea?

Shielded cable has a wire shielding over the wires and non shielded cable doesn't
