DO NOT USE WATER.

Use a soft cotton cloth on your violin after each time you play. A piece of old t-shirt is fine. This is usually all that is needed.

If the rosin is old and sticky and will not come off with a cloth then you will need some violin polish to remove it.

Do not use water, alcohol, furniture polish or any other concoction from the kitchen cupboard. You could damage the varnish on the violin.

I would not chance it. Violins are very thin wood - if that water got into the grain, that violin would be toast.

NO!!! Brian 777 is right. Soft cloth only.
