1. No....You can start with a beginner Drum kit , that's good enough.

2. There are few type of drums on basic drum kit.
The Snare Drum ( whcih you hit with your lfet hand)
The Tom-tom ( which both sit on the Bass Drum in front of you)
the Floor -Tom ( which sits on the floor next to your hips when playing)
The Bass Drum ( the big drum that you kick with your foot)

3. Yes...you really dont need experience to learn drums....just a willing to learn and play them. Thats all. It doesn't a take genius to do it, just someone who really wants to play them bad enough to try it. When I was 16, I never drummed before in my life. I just tried it one day by accident and I found out "Wow, I can do this!" I epriemtned with it and dicovered i could play drums. At 16, I had no clue what I was doing on the drums , but I kept playing and trying to figure it out on my own. You learn drumming trying it out and by experience.

Hope this helped out...

Before starting any type of instrument without any other musical background, you should learn how to read music and learn some music theory. If you are going to learn how to play the drum set, I suggest learning how to play each percussion instrument individually, and then try multitasking starting with the Bass drum and the snare drum, or the bass drum and the high hat.

1. No i learned without previous drum experience
2. there are snare, toms(high tom, mid tom, and floor tom,( or sometimes the floor tom is susspended its called a fusion tom.,and a bass (the big round one in the middle)
3.i guess number 1 anwserses that

1.) No, but if you take lessons (which will help you to be a better drummer), you will typically start with just a single snare drum to practice with so you can learn rudiments and proper stick technique. (Once you progress on the snare, you will find it easier to master combining the other drums.)

2.) Snare drum, Kick drum (bass drum), Hi-hat, tom-toms (typically 2 to 4: high, mid, low, and floor), and at least 2 cymbals (ride and crash). Of course, you are welcome to add on drums to the kit to match the style of music you are playing with it (for example, a lot of latin music drummers add a cowbell to their drumkit.)

3.) You can start out on the drum kit with no experience at all, but you'll need a lot of patience as it is harder to master it teaching yourself than if you get a good teacher to show you the basics of drumming.

Everyone's given you very good suggestions.
All I can add is how I learned w/out any previous experience.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend summer band in
jr high school. My first 'drum' was a practice pad made of wood
and a slab of rubber glued on top. And a pair 2B drum sticks.

When I finished that summer school class I got my first snare drum. By now I'd learned most of the drum rudiments and
playing simple 4/4 band music with the high school band.
I could read music. After about a year I got
my first drum kit and took some lessons and after about
two years was playing in a horrible rock band.....

Learning the Drum Rudiments was the key to learning
everything else about drumming.
