Takamine is your best buy for price, sound and action. I repair so many yet, Takamine are always dead on and rarely need an adjustments whatsoever.

Washburn makes a good acoustic for a reasonable price.

Hi there. In my opinion, if you are just starting out, a nylon string guitar or an electric will be easiest for you to stick with and play. Steel string guitars are hard on newbies fingers and I see that really slowing down a lot of my own students.

There are a lot of inexpensive guitars on the market... but for my money, Ibanez seems to have a lot of decent low end guitars.

The most important thing is that you play it before you buy it. Be sure you are comfortable with the feel of the action, the width of the neck and so on.

Don't be in a hurry. Play a bunch of them before you put your money down. NEVER, I mean this, NEVER, buy a guitar you have not personally picked up and played. Don't buy out of catalogs or on line.

Feeling comfortable with a guitar is a personal thing. And even two guitars that are the same make and model can strike you as vastly different in sound and feel.

Good luck with your music.
