Question:Okay I noticed people strum differently on the guitar......whats the diff..and why are there different types..which sounds better...are they for certain types of songs or something? Thanks in advance..

Different songs call for different strumming or picking rhythms, that's all. One's not necessarily any better than any other, its just a matter of coming up with a guitar part that sounds good for that song.

If everyone played every song exactly the same way, using exactly the same strumming or picking rhythm, everything would sound the same and be incredibly boring.

its also a matter of skill. A good guitarist knows how to come up with a unique guitar part for each song that makes the song sound its best. And some guitarists are able to play much more complex guitar parts than others. The girl in your first YouTube example can barely play her simple guitar part and sing at the same time, while the guy in your second YouTube video is really quite good.

that first girl looks kinda inexperienced, it all depends on the song,some call for intricate finger picking while others all you have to do is strum
