Position:Home>Performing Arts> What kind of PA system do I need to get and keep attention in a noisy bar with m

Question:I was looking at a Fishman loudbox at guitar center, singing through one mike and playing accoustic guitar into another. The guitar sounded fine -- just what I'd like. But if I tried to put it loud enough it would warp. So I have concluded that what I need is an amp, a mixing board, and some speakers. Please tell me the minimum requirements for the amp and speakers that would do the job.

gogo, at least 500 watt amp (250 per side) in to a 4 channel board, less watts will sound cheap and Tinny. Samson makes a decent amp for about $300 and a 4 channel board runs around $200. speakers... 15 in mains with built in horns and don't forget stands to get them up in the air. It is a lot easier on equipment to run power @ 1/2 with room to spare, than to run full blast all the time, your equipment will last a lot longer, A SM 58 is the industry standard for mics and is very durable and sounds great. Don't skimp on speaker and mic cords either. The initial investment might sound like a lot, but you will sound better and when you sound good it will breed more gigs P.S. involve your audience in your music and they will pay attention just my 2 cents worth ben

I do okay in most places with my Peavey 120 watt PA. Be smart and get a pair of good responsive 16" speakers, don't waste money on anything smaller or you'll have a hard time with really big bars that have poor acoustics. I also gotta have a moniter in front of me when I play solo.

Get a 100 watt mixer/amp/speakers. This way, you can shout at them to keep quiet and listen to your singing :)
